Reaching out is an act of hope, and I’m so glad you’ve taken that step. My name is Dr. Taylar Gutierrez, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to trauma-informed care. I hold a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a master’s degree in International Disaster Psychology from the University of Denver, training that shaped both my trauma focus and my multicultural lens as a therapist. I work with clients across the lifespan: adolescents navigating identity and relationships; adults facing stress, transitions, and unresolved wounds; and even couples who feel disconnected or caught in painful patterns.
Many of the people I work with come in carrying invisible burdens: old hurts that never fully healed, emotions that feel overwhelming or difficult to name, relationships that bring more pain than comfort, or a nagging sense of being stuck between the past and the life they want to create. My role is to walk with you through that process of untangling, helping you both make sense of what happened and move toward what’s possible. Healing does not erase the past, but it can free you from being defined by it.
I specialize in trauma, attachment, emotional identification and expression, and navigating complex interpersonal relationships. My approach is relational, multicultural, and deeply collaborative. I draw from cyclical psychodynamic work to explore the roots of your experiences and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you live more fully in the present with clarity and intention. I am also certified in Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR), which focuses on strengthening emotional regulation and relationship skills for trauma survivors.
In our work, you can expect warmth, curiosity, and honest reflection. Therapy with me is not about quick fixes, but is instead about creating lasting change. We’ll explore deeply, sit with discomfort when it shows up, and practice new ways of relating to yourself and others. I will challenge you, but I’ll also celebrate your growth along the way.
We may be a good fit if you are seeking meaningful insight, tools for navigating intense emotions, and freedom from cycles of pain that no longer serve you. Whether you’re carrying trauma, struggling in your relationships, or simply longing to feel more grounded and connected... know that you don’t have to face it alone. Healing is possible, and I would be honored to walk alongside you in that journey.
Warmly,
Taylar Gutierrez, Psy.D
